Boston, October 19, 2010--Dr. Mildred F. Jefferson was an eloquent witness of the culture of life and her tireless advocacy for the protection of human life in all its stages will be missed. Dr. Jefferson's involvement in the pro-life movement demonstrated the movement's breadth and depth. She was a pioneer in breaking barriers in the medical field and she was a dedicated physician who defended the dignity of the human person with intelligence and verve. Perhaps her most important legacy will be her record of encouraging young people to become active in the cause for life. Her respect for the Catholic Church and her willingness to provide compelling legislative testimony over the years in alliance with the Massachusetts Catholic Conference will always be remembered and appreciated. May she rest in peace.
