Question 2: more good news

We are very proud that Wayne Johnson, one of the consultants with whom we worked to defeat Q 2, has been named one of the Top 500 Political Consultants/Professionals in the U.S. for 2012 by the trade journal, Campaigns and Elections Magazine

Defeating Q 2 was Wayne's flagship effort in this election.

The media has tried to downplay our win because they tend to be in favor of doctor prescribed suicide.  It is most gratifying for the professionals to recognize the significance of our win and the importance of Wayne's work.

Of course, your hard work was vital to our success.  You are honored in the MCFL News, which is in the mail.

Thanks again,
Anne

Assembly, Caucus, and March for Life - info for your 2013 calendar

This year, the March for Life is on Friday, January 25th. Fridays are so much easier for people to get to DC. Besides the 54 million babies and their mothers, we'll be remembering Judge Robert Bork and Miss Nellie Gray. For more information on the March and local buses, check http://massprolife.com/?p=1217

The MCFL Caucus is held the morning of the March: Jan 25, 9:30 - 11:30 am, Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building. There will be coffee and goodies as well as our usual roster of wonderful speakers. So far we have confirmed:

Prof. Michael New, who is able to bring sanity to all the crazy numbers the press puts forth to promote the death lobby. We have enjoyed his presentations since he was a post-doctoral student at Harvard. You can find Michael because he will have on his Mass Citizens blue knit cap - as will you.

Gregory Pfundstein, Executive Director of the Chiaroscuro Foundation. You read many of Greg's articles about doctor-prescribed suicide and Question 2 during election season in National Review and other publications.                                                                                                                                                Stephen Lombardo, who worked at Mass. Citizens for six months preparing for the defeat of Q2. He will bring a contingent of Ave Maria students.                                                                                                    As we receive acceptances form more invited speakers, I'll let you know.

ASSEMBLY FOR LIFE, Sunday, January 27, Faneuil Hall, 2-4 pm.                                                        Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood Director and author of Unplanned is the main speaker. We are very fortunate to have Abby coming. She has been involved in suits against PP for shoddy (at best) practices, she is an excellent speaker and very much in demand.                                                               Jaymie Stuart Wolfe will be the Musical Emcee. We are thrilled to have her, knowing how much people welcome a chance to be at event with Jaymie.                                                                                             The Blackstone Valley Youth Choir will perform. The youngsters will also toll the bells for fallen pro-life activists as people enter the Assembly. You may remember how moving that was at the 25th Anniversary of Roe v Wade. Please check http://massprolife.com/?p=1130 to be sure we have listed all the people who should be honored. Please add anyone we missed.

I wanted to tell you about these events we have planned for you so that they could be the first things you put on your new 2013 calendar. Anne

MCFL mourns the passing of Judge Robert Bork

Judge Robert Bork was one of the finest legal minds of the second half of the 20th Century.  He also had the ability to write for "everyman". The Tempting of America and Slouching Toward Gemorrah were both best sellers.

It was heartbreaking for us, and a disgrace to the U S Senate, when he was "Borked".  There is much talk about litmus tests for Supreme Court appointments.  We right-to-lifers have always maintained that we do not want a litmus test, we want the most qualified Justices possible.

Many of us were privileged to hear Judge Bork speak in Boston a few years ago at the Catholic Lawyers' Guild.  He was a little frail physically but we all strained to keep up mentally with his presentation.

Judge Bork is an example to us all.

May be rest in peace.

"The whole world seems on edge"

I want to share with you this prayer that Steve Ertelt has featured at Life News:

What everyone horrified and saddened by these shootings should do is take a moment to pray for a respect for human life and an appreciation of one another as human beings.

The Christian writer Max Lucado has penned some very thoughtful words in his own prayer to God, demonstrating a clear yearning for love in a time of hate.

"It's a good thing you were born at night. This world sure seems dark. I have a good eye for silver linings. But they seem dimmer lately," he writes. "These killings, Lord. These children, Lord. Innocence violated. Raw evil demonstrated."

"The whole world seems on edge. Trigger-happy. Ticked off. We hear threats of chemical weapons and nuclear bombs. Are we one button-push away from annihilation?" Lucado continues. "Your world seems a bit darker this Christmas. But you were born in the dark, right? You came at night. The shepherds were nightshift workers. The Wise Men followed a star. Your first cries were heard in the shadows. To see your face, Mary and Joseph needed a candle flame. It was dark. Dark with Herod's jealousy. Dark with Roman oppression. Dark with poverty. Dark with violence."

"Herod went on a rampage, killing babies. Joseph took you and your mom into Egypt. You were an immigrant before you were a Nazarene," Lucado prays.

"Oh, Lord Jesus, you entered the dark world of your day. Won't you enter ours? We are weary of bloodshed. We, like the wise men, are looking for a star. We, like the shepherds, are kneeling at a manger," he concludes. "This Christmas, we ask you, heal us, help us, be born anew in us."

Strike now!

Recently it has been highly touted that doctor prescribed suicide is very popular in England and Europe.  Here is a new wrinkle.  Those who oppose religious leaders "imposing their values" are in favor of religious leaders supporting doctor prescribed suicide.  Another chance for Massachusetts to strike!  Please vote now!  Thanks, Anne

Kati and her unborn baby: update

Bill has shared this with us today

Her full name is Kati Jansen and she lives in Minnesota.

One inaccuracy reported to us before was that she had refused all cancer treatments in order to not risk the baby. In fact she has begun chemo therapy: the plan is the same: to save mother AND baby. If the mother died - it is very aggressive cancer - the baby dies, too. So, far, it is encouraging. Thanks for the many prayers!

You can keep up with her situation directly at this blog:
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/katijansen.

You may have noticed all the news media - including liberal ones - have announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby.  I guess it has really gotten to the pro-abs because someone has set up a website called Royalfetus.

God bless Kati and Kate and their babies!
Anne

PS--
The U S Senate just defeated the CRPD treaty!

Monday, December 3, 2012

Treaty vote 12/4. If you haven't called, please read!

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) Treaty vote is scheduled for tomorrow, Dec. 4th.

The treaty would require disabled persons to receive "reproductive health" services. This could grant the UN the ability to force America to provide abortions or sterilization to the disabled at taxpayer expense.  We have enough trouble with our own government in these areas, we don't need the UN telling us what to do!

If you have not yet called Sen. Brown, 202-224-4543, please do so immediately (by 10am on Tuesday at the latest) to tell him to vote against the treaty.

Thanks,

Anne
