Arrangements for Elinor Rafferty

Dear Friends,

I want to let you know that visitation and Elinor's funeral are on Friday morning in Quincy.   I hear that the funeral director, like most people who crossed her path over the years, was a good friend of hers.

I take comfort in the fact that Elinor is praying for the cause of life and Mass Citizens in particular.

Results of the DPS poll and a great DPS video

Thank you for voting in the DPS MA poll.  When we started, "No" was way behind.  Poll ended "No 62.26% to Yes 37.74%"  You do good work!  The comments are priceless.

This video is beautiful and should convince any Christian who is not already opposed to doctor-prescribed suicide.  Yes, there are too many of those as I'll be sharing with you.  Please pass it on.  Anne

Kick Off Rally on Wednesday at 3pm

40 Days for Life, Boston has sent the following.  You may find out below about events in all locations.  As Rita says, "It is time to sign up..."

Anne Dear Friends for Life,

I hope you are coping with this old fashioned winter.  The Vigil will be challenging, but babies are still dying there, despite the weather.  I promise you, I will be there.  The Kick Off tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3 pm with Brother Pio, FPO, is on, as are the Candlelight Vigils Friday night at 7 pm (English) with the seminarians from St. John's Seminary, and Saturday night at 6 pm (Spanish) with Sister Maria Ruth, Daughter of St. Paul, of the Spanish Radio Apostolate.

The only thing in question is the bus from Norwood/Dedham.  If you plan to take the bus, be sure to RSVP to or 781-769-5398.   We do not want to run a bus with 3 people on it.  If you come, we will have the bus.

There is negligible snow forecast for the rest of the week.  It will be cold, however, so dress warmly.    It is also time to sign up for vigil hours.  You are the power of this campaign.  Your prayers and witness can save lives.  An hour is not so long to stand outside.  It is up to us to show the world that these babies' lives matter.  They have no voice but ours.   Register on our website and sign up for hours.

If you have any difficulty, please email me and I will help you. Don't forget we are doing "Daily Informal Vigil Hours" this campaign.  If you can give us an hour, even better, an hour a week, choose a name for your group and we will post it on our website under Resources as "Daily Informal Vigil Hours".  We invite others to join you.  The list is attached and will be updated weekly.

Check out the absolutely stellar list of prominent people who have endorsed 40 Days for Life at this link:   We can be proud of the support of Pope Francis and many other prominent pro-lifers.  Use this list to your advantage when promoting the campaign.  The Vigil flier is also attached.  Post it wherever you can. Pray that we may use these 40 Days for Life to plead for God's mercy and grace upon all those involved in the sin of abortion.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.  1 Corinthians 15:58 See you on Comm. Ave.!

United for Life,

Rita Russo

Now it is Girl Scout cookies

Last year, when we learned the facts included in this article about the Girl Scouts, it was too late to do anything in Massachusetts so I want to share it with you in time this year.
Personally I find it compelling enough that our family will skip Girl Scout cookies this year but I think it is not something about which MCFL will be raising a boycott or anything.  We have important work at the State House and our educational efforts are mighty at this time of year.  I'll be sending you more information.
I did want you to know, however.  They've gone after apple pie and motherhood (especially motherhood).  Why not Girl Scout cookies?

Arrangements for Janet's Wake and Funeral

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett on Thursday, Feb 5th at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. Malden, at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetary, Everett.
I have had notes from as far as Georgia about our loss of Janet.  We were lucky to have her as long as we did.
