The Supreme Court struck down "incumbent protection" legislation in January, 2010. Now Obama and Congress are trying to pass new legislation forbidding MCFL and other advocacy groups from informing the voters about voting records of incumbents.
The U.S. House of Representatives could take up the "DISCLOSE Act" (H.R.5175) as early as June 17th! If the House passes the bill, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid has also promised quick action, perhaps in July - in time to muzzle pro-life groups for the fall elections! It is vital that you call your Congressman and Senators Brown and Kerry at once.
This is the message which you should leave in your own words, "I urge you to oppose the so-called 'DISCLOSE Act' (H.R. 5175 in the House, S. 3295 in the Senate). I am strongly opposed to incumbent politicians trying to restrict the free speech of organizations about the elected officials who are supposed to represent us. I will be paying close attention to how the representative/senator votes on this legislation, which I view as an attack on the First Amendment." It is fine to leave your message on a voice mail. Just be sure to leave your name and address also.
The vote may come as early as Thursday, so call now. Call your own Congressman and both Senators.
- Senator Scott Brown, 202-224-4543

- Congressman Barney Frank, 202-225-5931
- Congressman Niki Tsongas, 202-225-3411
