Senate Bill is IT! Time is NOW!

On Monday, I sent out an email explaining that, as soon as the House passes the Senate health care bill, it will go to the president who will sign it into law.  I was especially concerned that the leadership was trying to fool pro-life congressmen by saying they should pass the bill and then a parallel bill with abortion restrictions would be considered.  This, of course, is the level of honesty on which this debate has been conducted.

A National Review article, which I attached, implied that the USCCB might be willing to go along with such a proposal.

Richard Doerflinger, Associate Director, Secretariat on Pro-Life Activities at the USCCB was kind enough to send along a clarification for which I am most grateful:

"The question I was asked by Politico was whether, if the House sent over a health care bill that included the Stupak amendment, we would oppose any Senate efforts to strike Stupak from the bill even if that effort were led by Republicans.  I said we'd oppose such an effort by anyone.  Somehow, some read this as signaling an endorsement of the overall bill, which was no part of my conversation with the reporter."

Some insiders in DC have moved Richie Neal to the maybe column!

We must keep up the calls: urge Neal and Lynch to vote against Senate bill.

If you don't live in these districts, call friends who do.                                                                         Keep up the good work!  Anne
