Frequently we get questions about charities. Recently the concern has been with embryonic stem cell research (ESCR). Some organizations are blatant, like the Juvenile Research Foundation which funds only ESCR. Luckily, the Boston-based Ioacocca Foundation specifically excludes ESCR from its grants to cure diabetes. I have listed organizations which actually fund ESCR, organizations which publicly support it, organizations which are not specific, and organizations, with addresses, that take the moral position on ESCR.
It is important to note that, like the state of California, some of these organizations may be recognizing the futility of ESCR and may change their positions in the future.
We'll post this and any additions on the MCFL website for your future reference. Please let me know about other organizations. Thanks, Anne
NB. It appears Congress will likely not pass proposed legislation that would expand Obama's executive order to fund new ESCR by overturning the 1996 Dickey-Wicker Amendment, the federal law that prohibits federal funds from being used to pay for the destruction of human embryos.
