Dr. Jefferson was an indefatigable defender of Life and an inspiration to generations. I remember well her visit to my college campus 20 years ago--she arrived of course by car because she never got over her fear of flying, and the next day she delivered a rousing and provocative speech, off-the-cuff in her inimitable style, to a hostile audience. An incomparable orator, she handled the skeptics with grace and never failed to impress everyone with her command of the facts. She always reminded us in the movement to never give up, and she lived up to that promise to the end; she will be sorely missed, may she rest in peace.
