Obama Admin Targets Pro-Lifers in FBI Training Forum With Pro-Abortion Orgs

 by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
September 30, 2010

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Documents LifeNews.com obtained today reveal the Obama administration partnered with leading pro-abortion organizations to host an FBI training seminar in August with the main focus of declaring as "violent" the free speech activities of pro-life Americans.

On August 25, 2010, the FBI and the United States Department of Justice co-sponsored a training seminar with Planned Parenthood, the National Abortion Federation and the Feminist Majority Foundation.

When information about the seminar, which took place at FBI headquarters in Portland, Oregon, reached pro-life advocates, they asked officials for permission to attend and were granted access to the seminar and the training materials.

FBI and Obama administration officials provided participants with an 84-page document entitled Resource Guide: Violence Against Reproductive Health Care Providers" that contained print copies of Power point presentations prepared by the Justice Department an analysis of alleged pro-life "violence" prepared by the pro-abortion groups.

The so-called violence perpetrated by pro-life advocates mostly contained examples of constitutionally-protected free speech, including activities such as praying, providing women outside abortion centers with alternatives information, and peaceful protesting or picketing.

Matt Bowman, a top attorney at the Alliance Defense Fund, told LifeNews.com today that the cooperation between the Obama administration and pro-abortion organizations to target pro-life free speech should cause alarm.

"The information presented in the seminar raises serious concerns over the United States government's treatment of nonviolent free speech activities as 'violence' subject to investigation and prosecution," he said.

"Abortionist organizations have long lobbied to use the law to silence free speech activities. But in this seminar the FBI and USDOJ included those views in their own training seminar materials," he added. "This raises serious concerns about the United States government investigating peaceful, legal free speech activity in efforts that are ostensibly aimed at violence."

The Obama administration documents, on page 39-41 specifically list the names of pro-life organizations and websites sponsored by peaceful nonviolent groups.

Some of the organizations named in the FBI/DOJ seminar materials include 40 Days for Life, the ACLJ, Concerned Women for America, National Right to Life, Priests for Life, and Students for Life of America.

Julie Abbate of USDOJ, who presented at the seminar, is the attorney who filed a federal lawsuit in August 2010 against a pro-life advocate solely for leafleting while, allegedly, one time, crossing a driveway in front of an abortion center.

"The lawsuit is further evidence that USDOJ is putting its resources into prosecuting peaceful activity on public sidewalks, rather than violence," Bowman said.

Looking at some of the examples of pro-life free speech pegged as violence, pages 5 and 20 discuss and tabulate "violence statistics - including "disruption", but define "disruption" as including "picketing," which accounts for almost 90% of all the incidents listed in the FBI, USDOJ materials.

An entire section of the document is devoted to laws that address non-violent picketing in residential locations, at pages 77-84, as do the FMF surveys relied on in "The History of Violence,"page 11.

"The History of Clinic Violence" includes "the use of huge anti-abortion posters" on college and university campuses, and it identifies "boycotts against abortion providers" as another example. It complains of "the ability to publish almost anything on the Internet,"and of free speech lawsuits. These are all summarized as "The landscape of violence and harassment aimed at abortion providers.

On page 67, the Justice Department says prosecuting federal law includes "gathering evidence" on "Leaflets or pamphlets" that pro-life targets are distributing, and "Signs [the] suspect was carrying."

The documents indicate Planned Parenthood "maintain[s] a database of names, photos, license plate etc. of ant-choice groups and individuals and that they work proactively with local law enforcement.

Pages 18 and 19 summarize an FMF survey discussing "intimidation", and includes the distribution of leaflets labeled "Pamphlets Targeting Staff"' and any "noise disturbance." These would include leaflets that warn women that specific abortion practitioners have killed women in botched abortions. This free speech activity constitutes a significant percent of the survey activities labeled "intimidation."

The joint Obama administration-pro-abortion FBI training seminar follows on the heels of the Department of Homeland Security engaging in several instances of tracking or monitoring pro-life advocates and concluding they represent a security threat.

Last year, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano included pro-lifers in a report on domestic terrorism.

In the document, the Department of Homeland Security warned law officials about a supposed rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the poor economy and presence of a black president could spark problems.

According to the Washington Times, a footnote attached to the nine-page report from the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis said the activities of pro-life advocates is included in "rightwing extremism in the United States.

"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning said.

After that, in May 2009, detailed emerged about a terrorism dictionary the administration had put together in March. The Domestic Extremism Lexicon called pro-life advocates violent and claims they employ racist overtones in engaging in criminal actions.

In February 2010, DOHS admitted it conducted an improper threat assessment of pro-life advocates in Wisconsin before an expected rally last year in response to the University of Wisconsin Hospital board decided to allow abortions.

In February 2009, an Oklahoma man with a homemade pro-life sign on his vehicle was pulled over and harassed by police for allegedly making a threat against the president.

MCFL Fed PAC announces endorsements

logo
Massachusetts Citizens for Life Federal Political Action Committee

For immediate release                                                                       contact John Rowe, 978-531-8565

Boston-- Today, the political arm of the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, the oldest and largest right to life
organization in the state, has endorsed five candidates to replace Congressman Richard Neal (2nd CD), Congressman James McGovern (3rd CD), Congressman Barney Frank (4th CD), Congreeman John Tierney (6thCD), and Congressman Edward Markey (7th CD)

The MCFL  Federal PAC has endorsed: Thomas Wesley (2nd CD), Martin Lamb (3rd CD), Sean Bielat (4th CD), Bill Hudak (6th CD) and Dr. Gerry Dembrowski (7th CD).

Reps. Neal, McGovern, Frank, Tierney, and Markey voted to enact President Obama's massive health care legislation although it lacked the pro-life protections that were necessary to prevent
future federal funding of elective abortion and federal subsidies for private insurance plans that cover elective abortion (some of which will be administered directly by the federal government).

"These Congressmen voted for the most abortion-expansive single piece of legislation ever to reach the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives," said MCFL Fed PAC Chairman, John Rowe.
Rowe continued, "We are proud to endorse Thomas Wesley, Martin Lamb, Sean Bielat, Bill Hudak and Dr Gerry Dembrowski.  Each of these candidates has answered the MCFL Questionnaire
100% pro-life.  We look forward to having Congressmen who will vote against abortion funding and for protection of all innocent life.  We are contacting right to life people in each of these districts so they can
vote for the right to life candidates."

MCFL Fed PAC has already endorsed State Senator Jeff Perry for Congress in the 10th CD.

8,000 MA youngsters inoculated against abortion each year! You can help!

logo
Linda Thayer, MCFL Vice-President of Educational Affairs, has spoken to more than 8,000 young people every year for the past thirty years.  Linda spoke while she taught biology in inner city Boston.  She took early retirement to devote herself full-time.  She has a gift for eliciting from the youngsters the proper conclusion.

It is wonderful to turn around a woman at the door of an abortuary.  I know that Linda's talks keep many more from ever getting near the killing place!

Linda is already heavily booked for this school year.  Please check her schedule, http://www.masscitizensforlife.org/Vocation_of%20_Love.html  If your parish or school is not on it, please contact Linda at action@masscitizensforlife.org.  Given her zeal, I know she'll try to fit you in.

40 Days for Life Story - "When I moved to Charlottesville this summer I met    a
couple men who had been standing outside of Planned Parenthood for years. In
fact, one of them had been standing for so long that he was starting to question
his service.
He said to me, "It's very rare that I get any positive feedback." I told him
that it was a small town, but I knew from my experience in Houston that lives
were being changed simply by the presence of men and women outside of the
abortion clinic praying and handing out literature.
No sooner had he crossed the street than a woman pulled up into the Planned
Parenthood parking lot and started yelling at me. At first I thought she angry
with me. But then she told me she wanted to tell me something.
She pointed to the back seat of her car and said she had a grandson in a car
seat that was alive because people were standing outside of the clinic -- and
she wanted to say thank you."

Thanks and God Bless,
Jay G.

Planned Parenthood is unhappy! Make it worse for them on Monday in Fitchburg!

logo
Planned Parenthood has jumped right in to condemn The Pledge to America by the U. S. House Republicans because the action plan includes a pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare and pledges to "establish a government-wide prohibition on taxpayer funding of abortion and subsides for insurance coverage that includes abortion and to enact into law conscience protections for health care providers, including doctors, nurses, and hospitals".

That is too much for Cecile Richards, PP Pres. "This is an extreme proposal that would use the federal tax code, including tax benefits, to end private health insurance coverage for abortion," Richards claims with the usual PP veracity. http://www.lifenews.com/nat6727.html
Oh, and PP is scared because so many national Tea Party candidates are pro-life. http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/sep/10092310.html
You need to know the State and Federal PAC's will be publishing their November endorsements this week. The elections for Congress will be very important to implement the Pledge!

On Monday, September 27th, PP of Fitchburg will hold its "Grand Opening". Pro-life activists, concerned citizens, and local religious leaders will gather to voice their opposition to the new facility which will distribute the abortion pill and refer for abortions. Organizers report there will be a "Public Rosary at 391 Main Street from 11:45 to 1:00 pm". They encourage you to attend to show solidarity with the unborn.

Be on the look-out for PAC news in the next few days!

DISCLOSE vote will wait for high-dollar fundraiser

logo
National Right to Life called early this evening to say that Harry Reid was going to slip in a vote on DISCLOSE tomorrow or Wednesday.  Anything to muzzle us and skew the elections!  I didn't send out an email because I thought we would simply thank Senator Brown after the vote.
The following just arrived. I guess you can laugh or gag.  Keep up your great work!  Anne

POLITICO

Ben Smith

September 21, 2010

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0910/DISCLOSE_vote_will_wait_for_highdollar_fundraiser.html

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid just scheduled a vote on the DISCLOSE Act, which would force donors to publish their involvement in political ad campaigns, for Thursday.

Why not tomorrow, you might ask? Because there are no votes in the Senate scheduled for tomorrow. And that may be, in part, because there's something else going on tomorrow: A big New York fundraiser for the Senate Democrats.

"I would be honored if you would join me for a very special reception with President Barack Obama on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in New York. We have a limited numbers of tickets available to our general reception. If you would like to join us, please contact ...[redacted]@dscc.org."

The event has prices raising up to $15,200, but a mere $2,500 contributed or raised buys you access to a "VIP reception with members of Congress."  The money goes to the House Senate Victory Fund, which splits its receipts between the DSCC and the DCCC.

"An individual can contribute as much as $60,800 per calendar year to the House Senate Victory Fund," the invitation helpfully notes. (These donations will, it's worth noting, be disclosed.)

And then, it's back to D.C. to get all that big money out of politics.

The source who sent this puts it in the you-can't-make-this-up category.

Pray that Fr. David J. This Safe Environment Program which Bp. Robert F. Vasa, the ordinary of Baker, has developed in his diocese is derived from the Catholic Medical Association's wonderful report on safe environment programs and child development entitled "To Protect and to Prevent" (2006). This approval is necessary because the current Archdioces of Boston Safe Environment Program, Talking about Touching is problematic at best, scandalous as implemented, and at worst ... I won't say.

Senate about to fund military abortions! Call Brown

logo
The Armed Services Committee adopted the Burris Amendment to fund abortions at U.S. military facilities.  Senator Brown voted against it in Committee.
Now the entire Department of Defense Authorization bill is coming up for a vote.  There will be an effort to remove the Amendment but we think that Sen Reid will not allow that.
So we need Senator Brown to vote against cloture on the motion to proceed.

Please call Senator Brown immediately!  Urge him to vote against cloture on the DoD appropriations bill!
Call now: 202-224-4543

Isn't it a good thing we elected Scott!

Pro-life candidates did very well yesterday!

logo
I can tell you all went to the polls yesterday! You did a very good job!
Jeff Perry, endorsed by the MCFL Federal PAC, won easily in the 10th CD. Also, there were Congressional races where both candidates in the primary were pro-life. We'll be reporting on those later.
The State PAC worked very hard to get Jim McKenna his write-in votes for Attorney General. It looks as though he doubled the needed 10,000. That was an amazing effort!
Endorsed candidate for State Rep. Jim Lyons and recommended candidates Michael Case, Sheila Harrington, Mark Lombardo, and Jamison Tomasek all won.
Endorsed State Senate candidates Sandi Martinez and Mike Rush both won, Rush in a head-to-head confrontation with a candidate endorsed by NARAL.
Some people have asked why so few candidates were endorsed or recommended. In many cases a pro-life candidate did not have a primary opponent, there were two equally good pro-life candidates, or a candidate is an Independent and will not appear on the ballot until November. That means there will be a lot more endorsements in November.
I have already heard from out of state pro-lifers who are as excited as we are!
The real work is ahead of us! Thank you.

Abortionist pleads guilty, receives ... six months!

logo

Yesterday, on the third anniversary of Laura Smith's death, abortionist Rapin Osathanondh pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
Today he was sentenced to six months in a county jail.  That seems awfully light .  It might be that the guilty plea was entered simply to avoid a trial where all the facts would come out and, likely, result in a longer sentence.  Laura's family still has the civil suit pending.
Life News has thorough coverage at  http://www.lifenews.com/state5453.html

Let's take a minute to pray for all women who find their pregnancies burdensome! Anne

Fatal flaw - Brown's election may yet defeat Obamacare!

As you know, once Senator Brown was elected, the Democrats had to cheat to get Obamacare passed. They by-passed conference committee because they no longer had their 60 votes.

Well, conference is where they automatically put in the severability clause which insures that, if one part of the law is struck down, the other parts are still law.

Because Obamacare never went to conference, it has no severability clause. If any of it is stuck down, all of it is. Some states, like Virginia, have a really good chance of getting parts of it struck down... http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/09/obamacares_fatal_flaw_1.html

This doesn't lesson our responsibility to fight as hard as we can in these elections because the same people will try to pass the same thing again, but it does warm the cockles of the heart.

It also points out again how important our work for Scott Brown was in January.

Let's make tomorrow and November 2nd another January 19th!

The trial that was supposed to start on Monday...

We just received the following from Eileen Smith:

"This is the latest....

Instead of the trial starting on Monday, I have a meeting with the DA. The defense lawyers, DA and the Judge are meeting. I think the dr's lawyer is going to present a plea deal to the judge. An offer so he doesn't have to go thru trial and get a favorable outcome for himself. I have no control on this outcome and can only give a Victim Witness Statement to the judge. I meet with the DA after this discussion and they present the outcome to me.

If the judge does not accept the plea deal (it is the judges decision only) ((I pray he doesn't accept it!)) , I was told the jury selection will start on Tuesday. Trial could start Thursday or Friday. Sorry I can't be more exact but such is the "system". I will be posting as soon as I can that day as to the outcome of the meeting. This man needs to go to jail for what he did to Laura !!!!!!

Last week in the civil case the dr's lawyer asked (they wanted me to go along with this in the criminal case) if I would be okay with a "House Confinement" punishment in the criminal case!! This man lives in a multi million dollar house in Wellesley on the water!! You call that punishment??? I call it vacation!! May we all be punished by being stuck on the water in luxury!!

There are so many people in jail who have done way less than this man. Pray for Justice!! And please Stay tuned........"

I'll let you know as soon as we hear more form Eileen,
Anne

PLEASE WATCH YOUR CHURCH BULLETIN THIS WEEKEND

logo
Our Walk to Aid Mothers and Children will be on Oct 3rd.  We have sent the following Bulletin notices to the churches in the state.  You could help the mothers and children so much if you would watch for the notice.  If you do not see it, please check with your parish office to make sure they put it in.

That is such a help!  The Walk Committee and I are most grateful!  Anne

Please include in your September Bulletins.  Thank you very much!
Anne Fox, President, Massachusetts Citizens for Life

Congress to overturn court ruling, fund embryonic stem cell research

Appeals court suspends ban on government funding of embryonic stem cell researc until Sept 20th. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/09/09/appeals-court-puts-hold-ban-stem-cell-research-funding/
Meanwhile, pro-abortion Congresswoman Diana DeGette introduced H.R. 4808 in 2009 to force government funding of embryonic stem cell research.
It has 51 co-sponsors. Now that Judge Lambeth has enjoined the government from spending money on ESC, the anti-life forces feel they must pass this bill. In spite of the fact that 58% of the public opposes government funding of ESC, they think this bill will play to their advantage.

DeGette claims that "Embryos and stem cells are two entirely different organisms, and they involve different types of research". If Nancy Pelosi retires, DeGette would fit right in.

House democratic leadership expect the bill to pass quickly by a wide margin when members return on Sept 13th from their "Summer District Work Period" (wording from House calendar). Capuano, Frank, and McGovern are sponsors.

This is the time to call to keep your money from killing babies for research that doesn't even work!

Congressman John W. Olver , 202-225-5335
Congressman Richard E. Neal, 202-225-5601
Congressman James P. McGovern, 202-225-6101
Congressman Barney Frank, 202-225-5931
Congressman Niki Tsongas, 202-225-3411
Congressman John F. Tierney, 202-225-8020
Congressman Edward J. Markey, 202-225-2836
Congressman Michael Capuano, 202-225-5111
Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, 202-225-8273
Congressman William D. Delahunt, 202-225-3111

We haven't called since June - they will be glad to hear from you!
Thanks,
Anne

The Choose Life license plates are a smashing success.  Apparently the Department of Transportation made 10,000 so you can still get one.

The first wave of the Repeal Obamacare Petition drive is drawing to a close.  We want to be able to contact the people who have already signed the petitions to tell them the candidates' positions on Obamacare before the September 14th Primary.

The second phase will end in late October so that we can contact those people as well for the November 2nd election.

The third phase will end on Jan 21 so that we can bring the stacks and stacks of petitions with us when we go to the March for Life.  After that point, Congress will be back in session and all of us, including the new people, will be contacting our Congressmen.

We have hundreds and hundreds of sheets in already!

If you have any sheets, please send them right along.  We'll be happy to send you new, blank one with more cards.
If you haven't gotten any signatures yet, you have a good time in store for you meeting lots of new people who agree with you!

You can mail up to five sheets for one stamp.

Keep up the great work!
