Colorado woman who cut baby out of mother's womb will not be charged in death of baby - prosecutor has PP ties
Commonwealth vs. Cass, 467 N.E.2d 1324 (Mass. 1984) rules that a viable fetus is within the ambit of the term "person" in the vehicular homicide statute. The case refers to Mass. Gen Law, ch. 90 § 24G, which defines vehicular homicide.

40 Days for Life Closing Week.
Bravo to the "social worker in Massachusetts"
Thank goodness this local social worker had the good of this little girl at heart and, incidentally, followed the law. Just think what would have happened if this predator had called one of our abortion facilities!

40 Days Wednesday good news update!
Prayer
Father of mercy and grace, we thank you for the gift of our children. Grant that every fiber of our being may rejoice when a new baby, our own or any else's, is born into the world. Help us to welcome them as we would welcome you, for whenever a new baby is conceived, another life to bear your image and another voice to praise and worship you, is beginning. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Our Dear Elinor Rafferty, former MCFL President, has died!
When someone gets elderly and frail, it is harder for people to remember them, especially when many who are left didn't know them. Trust me, Elinor was always up to pro-life good, taking care of the movement and of individuals. I'll let you know as soon as we have arrangements.

I honestly believe, that when we restore legal protection for the unborn, it will invalidate the pro-death cliches (quality of life, cost of care, etc) and will keep them from being used against others on the edges of life.
Let's look at the public policy question we had on last November's ballot in 11 State Representative districts calling for the local legislator to vote for legislation requiring facilities that perform abortions to be licensed and inspected. We averaged more than 70% of the vote! That is 11 districts out or 160. We know there are more than 40 other districts that are as pro-life demographically.
The people involved made it easy because they had some organization and activity in place.
We plan to go in to every district in the state and try to organize in the same way. That is necessary for when the abortion issue is returned to the states. Immediately, it is necessary to stop the "Care and Comfort in Dying" bill which has been filed.
The Convention on March 21st is going to be great! You will notice that members get a discount. The Mothers Day Dinner is coming together beautifully with Virginia Webb as Chair and Carol Tobias, President of National Right to Life Committee, as speaker. Student Lobby Days are progressing, the Speakers Bureau is well on its way to speaking to 10,000 students this school year, the Walk for Life on June 28 is now the Massachusetts March for Life with a whole new look and tone with many more young people, and we are seeking locations for the Summer Academy, which draws students from all over the state.
I hope you enjoy getting our emails and have learned something from them. Please help us to continue to grow by becoming a member of Massachusetts Citizens for Life! (CLICK HERE to join today!) As a member you will receive our wonderful quarterly magazine.
The website also has the option to pledge I can't tell you how important pledges are. Every time you pledge, you make it possible for me to plan our life-saving work.
I thank you for your commitment, your support, and your prayers.
With gratitude,
Anne
PS. You may join on-line (CLICK HERE), by sending a check for $30 (individual) or $50 (family) to Mass Citizens for Life, 529 Main Street, 1M9, Charlestown, 02129, or by calling 617-242-4199.

Your ears must be burning!
2015-2016 Legislative Agenda
For the 189th Session of the General Court of Massachusetts MCFL is once again offering a full pro-life legislative agenda. The bills are geared toward reducing abortions, protecting the unborn and infants and educating and informing the public about the value of life and the horror of anti-life policy.
The Women's Safety Act
Primary Sponsor: Rep. Elizabeth Poirier (R-Attleboro) and Rep. John Rogers (D-Norwood)
This bill, amending the definition of "clinic" in the General Laws, would bring needed attention to the lack of licensing and inspection of numerous non-hospital abortion facilities in Massachusetts

Laura's Law/ The Women's Right to Know Act
Primary Sponsor: Rep. Elizabeth Poirier (R-Attleboro)
This bill is named for Laura Hope Smith, who died as the result of a surgical abortion performed by an incompetent physician. If passed, the bill would offer women more complete information about abortion and fetal development. Women seeking abortions would also be given a chance to see a sonogram of their child. A 24 hour waiting period would be imposed to ensure considered decisions were made.

Massachusetts Partial-Birth Abortion Ban
Primary Sponsor: Rep. Kevin Kuros (R-Uxbridge)
This bill would end the barbarous and utterly gratuitous practice of partial birth abortion in the Commonwealth. The 2003 federal ban, upheld in 2007 by the Gonzales v. Carhart decision, may or may not be enforced by federal prosecutors, who are often more involved in issues such as drug trafficking, tax fraud, etc. A state ban would ensure that offenders can and will be prosecuted in Massachusetts.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
Primary Sponsor: Rep. Elizabeth Poirier (R-Attleboro)
Extensive research indicates that, by the gestational age of 20 weeks, unborn children endure excruciating pain during the abortion procedure. This bill would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks.
CLICK HERE for a fact sheet
The Taxpayer Conscience Protection Act
Primary Sponsor: Rep. Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman)
This bill would allow taxpayers the opportunity to indicate on their state tax return that they would like the portion of their taxes usually spent on government-funded abortions to instead fund the Baby Safe Haven program.

YOU can make the Boston Globe run a pro-life ad! Yes, you can...
I am embarrassed to admit that we subscribe to the Boston Globe - my husband insists on the sports. I always feel that I should do penance. If you subscribe you may feel that way also. WELL... this marvelous opportunity has come up! The Globe is giving subscribers vouchers which will be used to run ads for charities of their choice. That means you and I can (I already have) get vouchers worth $100 toward a Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Inc. ad!!!!
