Scholarship available for National Right to Life Academy - first come, first served!

logo

We just received the following from Megan McCrum with an exciting opportunity for a student to win a schoarship to the National Right to Life Academy.  Any student who participates in the Academy benefits greatly as does the home state.  If you know a fine pro-life potential leader, please pass on this information immediately!  For Life, Anne

"Dear friends of the National Right to Life Academy,

"The clock is ticking to the start of the 4th National Right to Life Academy and I have some interesting news to share. We have a spot that opened up in our slot of George Washington University dorms, AND a $1775.00 scholarship to go towards one student's tuition. If you've always wanted to send a student to the academy and haven't been able to swing the tuition, this is the perfect opportunity! For $1425.00 you can send a pro-life leader (perhaps a summer volunteer or intern in your office?) to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Here's how a few of our graduates have described the program:

'I have the same convictions that I had before this summer but now I have all the information and practice I need-the statistics, arguments and speaking techniques to effectively articulate those convictions.'

'This Academy is exactly what an organization like National Right to Life needs to ensure that the fight will continue with the passion and intelligence that has led it for the past 35+ years.'

"The 4th Academy is set up and ready to go --- please help us ensure that another student is able to participate in this unique program.

"The only thing is, time is short. I must know if you want take advantage of this special offer by Wednesday June 2nd. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 202-626-8822 or email at nrlcacademy@gmail.com . The scholarship will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis!

"Thanks so much for your support of this program,

Megan McCrum"

Join other Bay Staters at the National Right to Life Convention!

logo
The NRC Convention, "We Are Making A Difference",  is in Pittsburgh this year on June 24, 25, and 26.

Wanda Franz, President, says, "The National Right to Life Convention is the premiere pro-life grassroots organizing event in the country. Right-to-life leaders from every part of America gather annually to discuss a wide-range of topics, get educated with the latest information, and get inspired for the battles ahead.

"What will you get out of attending? It doesn't matter whether you are a state or chapter leader or a pro-life individual interested in becoming more active and better informed, the Convention provides three full days of an incredible variety of topics: organizing, new media, fundraising, post-abortion healing, the United Nations, religious outreach, debating, euthanasia, rights of the disabled and many more!

"If you have children, bring them along. We offer inexpensive child care throughout all three days.

"National experts, seasoned community activists, and fellowship with pro-lifers. Come learn why the pro-life grassroots movement continues to make the difference!"

MCFL has received inquiries about sharing driving and/or hotel accommodations.
If you are interested, please reply and we will put you in touch with any others who are hoping to attend.
I hope you can make it!

President Obama's Supreme Court Nominee, Elena Kagan, has some questionable legal views on abortion, same-sex marriage, homosexuals in the military, and the rule of law.  She should be scrutinized by Congress, including all of her writings during the Clinton and Obama Administrations, the same manner as John Roberts.  Urge Congress to look closely at her record before voting on this nominee.

Call Senator Brown about Elena Kagan

logo
Elena Kagan will probably be confirmed.

She could be worse, perhaps, but her support for abortion  and her memo on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban show she is clearly hostile to pro-life laws.                                                                                       We must keep calling Sen Brown.

Why?

Kagan has shown she will use the Court to advance her agenda rather than to apply the Constitution.

Most important to usPro-life candidates must win the November elections in order to repeal Obama deathcare.  Sen Brown is kindly campaigning for fellow Republicans.  He can help their elections much more by keeping things riled up on Capitol Hill.

Please urge him to encourage a filibuster.  (202) 224-4543 or (617) 565-3170

Your call is very important.  Thanks!  Anne

Latest Gallup Poll: Americans continue to move in the right direction

logo
Ed Morrissey writes:

"Over the last ten years, every age group has seen identification with pro-life increasing, in some cases dramatically.  The percentage of seniors identifying as pro-life has gone up seven points.  Young adults ages 18-29 have increased four points; the 50-64 demographic has increased pro-life identification by five points.  Only those in their 30s have remained relatively flat, increasing only two points in ten years.

"Women may provide the most surprising demographic of all, however.  In the past ten years, there has been a six-point gain among women identifying as pro-life."

The rest of his article about the latest Gallup Poll is here.

The battles we have had to fight at the legislative level, Partial Birth Abortion Ban and Obamacare among them, and at the political level  (which provides our only chance to get abortion into the media) are the cause of these positive moves in public opinion.

You and I are working to educate people about the value of every human life and we are succeeding!
We must keep working together!
Anne

The pro-life vote prevails again!

logo
In January, the voters of Massachusetts chose Scott Brown over Martha Coakley largely on the basis of his pro-life voting record and his pledge to vote against Obamacare. Yesterday, the voters of the Norfolk, Bristol & Middlesex District that includes: Wellesley, Natick, Wayland, Needham, Sherborn, Millis, Norfolk, Wrentham, Plainville, Franklin, Attleboro, and North Attleboro chose Richard Ross for similar reasons.  His opponent promised to be an advocate for "reproductive rights".

There are some wonderful candidates running for state and federal office this fall.

Will the PAC's and the right to life people work as hard for them as we did in these races?  You bet we will!  Will our winning streak continue?  You bet it will - with your help.

Jack Rowe requests support for the Federal PAC:
Massachusetts Citizens for Life Political Action Committee
Schrafft Center
529 Main Street
Charlestown, MA, 02129.

Madeline McComish chairs the State PAC, which need support right now for the race to fill Richard Ross' State Rep seat:

Thank you and relish the day!

Congratulations to Senator-Elect Richard Ross

logo
Massachusetts Citizens for Life extends congratulations to Senator-Elect Richard Ross.
We have enjoyed working with Representative Ross who has sponsored our Women's Right to Know Bill, "Laura's Law", and supported other pro-life legislation in the House.
We look forward to working with him in the Senate.
The MCFL State PAC and the countless pro-life people in the district and across the state who worked for Senator-Elect Ross deserve credit for their hard work and support throughout a hard-fought campaign.
For Life,
Marie Sturgis, MCFL Legislative Director

Election Tuesday! Call a Friend!

logo
There is a special State Senate election in Wellesley, Natick, Wayland, Needham, Sherborn, Millis, Norfolk, Wrentham, Plainville, Franklin, Attleboro, and North Attleboro.

Richard Ross has a pro-life voting record as a State Rep and is a sponsor of our Women's Right to Know Bill, "Laura's Law"

His opponent states that he is an activist for "reproductive rights" - ie - abortion.

The turnout will be very low, so the candidate who best brings out his vote will win.  That is where pro-lifers are powerful!

Please call at least one person you know who lives in the district to make sure he or she will vote Tuesday, May 11.

Elena Kagan to SCOTUS - great nominee for Obama

logo
President Obama will nominate U S Solicitor General, Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.  She is ideal for him, unfortunately.

He wants a nominee who is a 1) guaranteed liberal, who will be 2) nominated easily in this election year, and who will be 3) able to woo Justice Kennedy, the "swing vote".

1)  Poor as he is at vetting in other areas, Obama would never have named her solicitor general if he were not sure she is his kind of liberal.
2)  Kagan has an incredibly sparse paper trail. Even conservatives speak well of her.
3)  Kagan has the cv, the aura, and the personality to be much more powerful with Kennedy than Sotomayor.

Please contact Senator Brown.  Tell him the Republicans must fight her nomination because she is extremely liberal on the social issues, has no background to show that she is qualified for the Court, and because the Republicans must fight everything the president puts forward this election year.

Rose Drives Save Lives!

logo
Mother's Day Rose Drives are taking place this weekend in just about 100 Catholic Churches across the state and we want to thank all of those volunteers who are coordinating the drives or helping in any way!

You see, the Rose Drive has always been a major fundraiser for MCFL but is becoming even more essential in these tough economic times because it can help make up the shortfall as individuals may not be able to be as generous at the moment as they once were.

There are still about 500 other Catholic Churches and hundreds more non-Catholic Christian Churches not covered this weekend.  If you attend one of these Churches and can help us in any way with this easy but highly effective fundraiser or just want more information, please contact me at jcallahan@masscitizensforlife.org or 617-242-4199 ext. 230.  Possibilities include Father's Day, Memorial Day or any Sunday between now and the end of October, Respect Life Month.

Yours for Life,

Janet Callahan

Bless You
