MCFL is looking for a part-time book keeper

We are looking for a part-time book keeper. If you are interested, you must be proficient in Quick Books, reconcile monthly bank statements, prepare monthly projections and monthly financial reports, periodically audit the monthly reports of local chapters, help prepare yearly budget, prepare materials for yearly audit, and pay bills.  The hours depend on the work that needs to be done but would be around 10 per week.  Some work can be done at home, but much of it needs to be done in the MCFL office at the Schrafft Center in Charlestown. Censorship in Fitchburg! Buffer Zone Appeal Date

Last night, the Fitchburg City Council met to discuss the proposed Planned Parenthood facility.  Pro-lifers have testified, demonstrated, written to the landlords, etc.  They were prepared last night with legal documentation showing what the Council could do.  Chris Hanley, MCFL Chapter Chair, reports that the general public was muzzled.  When citizens tried to speak, a councilor interrupted at every mention of the words, "Planned Parenthood" or "abortion".  Only councilor Rosemary Reynolds spoke up for the rights of citizens to be heard.  She challenged the other councilors to study the situation objectively.  Demonstrations will continue, but the key, according to Chris, is contacting the landlords.  Post cards saying "No to Planned Parenthood" should be mailed to: Bruce Richard                                                              Christopher Kancades 168 Harris Rd.                                                              10 Rock Brook Way Ashburnham, MA 01430                                              Boxford, MA 01920 Call: Office phone: 781-858-7475 SUPREME COURT WILL DECIDE WHETHER TO GIVE CERT (HEAR THE CASE) ON THE BUFFER ZONE APPEAL ON FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 2010.  We'll keep you posted. This is the time of year when we at Mass. Citizens work to renew membership and attract new members.   We have had a delightful prize offered to us for the person who brings the most new members in to Mass Citizens for Life between now and April 15th.  Congressman Steve Stockman, former pro-life congressman from Texas, has offered a private tour of the House Chambers and lunch in the Members Dining Room on Monday, April 19th for the winner and a guest.   We will fly the winner and guest to DC for their inside adventure!  A different date can be arranged if necessary.  The winner must obtain at least 38 new members. People are constantly telling us they want to be able to donate to MCFL on an automatic basis: monthly, quarterly, or whatever.   In looking at programs, we had two concerns.  We wanted to insure the safety and security of the program.  Our Sunday Visitor now administers Online Giving secure sites.  We am very comfortable about working with them.    Second, we didn't want you to miss any of the important news that is contained in the fund raising letters.  If you decide to give automatically I promise to send you mailings, invitations, etc. that you need to keep up with all the news that isn't in the MCFL News.    You benefit from the ease of automatic giving.   You don't need to write checks, keep track of the last time you have given, or hunt for reply envelopes. There is no need to share confidential credit card or account information - you can enter it directly into the Online Giving secure site.  You can take advantage of credit card benefits like airline mileage or cash bonuses. Mass. Citizens benefits by having a much more user friendly web site.  We are able to plan our yearly budget and activities with more assurance.  People will be less likely to mean to give but forget.  Funds you contribute will go directly to programs rather than being eaten up by direct mail costs. The campaign to keep Planned Parenthood out of Fitchburg has caught fire and is receiving national attention. Chris Hanley, MCFL Chapter Chair asks that we all participate in the Post Card Campaign: There is a pro-life campaign to stop Planned Parenthood from moving onto Main Street in Fitchburg, MA. One facet of the campaign is to influence the two landlords of 391 Main St. Fitchburg not to rent to Planned Parenthood. We are hoping that all of you will buy and send a postcard to each landlord's home. Two pre-stamped postcards cost 62 cents (31 cents each). Planned Parenthood going forward into Fitchburg, contact landlords now

Kudos to members of the Fitchburg-Leominster Chapter of Mass. Citizens for Life and the other pro-life citizens from the area around Fitchburg. Planned Parenthood plans to use a federal grant to open facilities in Fitchburg, Milford, and Marlborough. Last Thursday 80 people protested at the proposed Fitchburg site. On Tuesday, 40 pro-lifers attended the Fitchburg City Council meeting and many of them testified. Bart Stupak has taken another hit for the babies and for us. Congress has been funding a $1 million scholarship fund at Northern Michigan University for aspiring Olympic athletes. The scholarship was renamed in 1998 for Bart Stupak's son who had committed suicide. Yesterday, Feb 1st, President Obama unveiled his budget. He killed the B. J.
