North Dakota bans abortion
North Dakota passed an abortion ban recently. This topic of 'personhood' often divides pro-lifers who find its strategy flawed, because, they say, it risks setting up a court challenge that ultimately loses and cements Roe as the law of the land. Regardless of its strategic implications, it shows that the pro-life movement is alive and active across the country, and constantly trying to figure out the best ways to protect the unborn in law, culture and in our daily lives.

from Michael New:
There is yet another chapter in my long running debate with the folks
at Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good. (The folks who released
a study this fall which claimed that pro-life laws do *not* work and
that welfare is the best way to stop abortion)
You might be interested in know that Catholics in Alliance for the
Common Good admitted that mistakes were made in their analysis and
*retracted* their original study.
A replacement version has been uploaded. However, one of the original
authors has removed his name from the current version. More
importantly, the results of the new version fall well short of the
original press release. The new version provides evidence that
welfare policy only has a marginal effect on the incidence of
abortion.
